A flexible syllabus, enabling training to be tailored to meet specific needs of employers & their employees. It gives participants the opportunity to build and develop more advanced beauty therapy skills following on from NVQ Level 2, covering modules such as body massage, hair removal, improving body condition using mechanical & electrical treatments as well as ensuring health & safety standards are adhered to in a salon environment.

Entry requirements:
Applicants must have an NVQ level 2 in Beauty Therapy or equivalent. Applicants should be enthusiastic and willing to develop customer care skills and be working within a salon environment in order for the participant to build their work-based portfolio as well as the ability to demonstrate an appropriate level of inter - personal skills as this is a customer focused industry.
Course Aims:
This route offers those wishing to pursue a career as a beauty therapist, an opportunity to develop new and existing skills whilst gaining hands on experience within the workplace.
The programme is assessed by a range of methods which will include practical assessment, written and oral questions, project and assignment work. There is no upper age limit and the continuous assessment will allow a degree of flexibility for students with previous experience to progress more quickly.
You will cover the following units:
- Promote additional products and services to clients.
- Contribute to the financial effectiveness of the business.
- Contribute to the maintenance of health, safety and security in the salon.
- Improve body condition using mechanical and electrical treatments.
- Treat clients using body massage techniques.
- Remove hair using diathermy and blend epilation methods.
- Improve face and skin condition using electrical treatments.
- Improve the appearance of the skin using micro-dermabrasion.
Progression:
Successful students would be competent to an advanced level in a salon or may wish to progress to further training in specific areas of beauty therapy.
