This qualification is designed for people who work with children and young people aged 0 –16 yrs in a child care setting. Level 2 is designed primarily for those who engage in face to face work with children and families in a variety of settings such as: Daycare, Crèches, Pre-school groups, playgroups, community based services.
Who will benefit:
The award is aimed at nursery assistants, crèche workers; special educational needs assistants working in a supporting role
Entry requirements:
No formal entry requirements however participants must be working in an appropriate setting with children and their families. Participants must be over 16 years of age
Progression:
Children’s Care, Learning and Development (CCLD) NVQ Level 3
Units
The qualification has seven units to be made up by taking all six Core Units plus one Optional unit as detailed below:
Core Units
All must be completed.
- Contribute to positive relationships
- Help to keep children safe
- Support children’s development
- Use support to develop own practice in children’s care, learning and development
- Prepare and maintain environments to meet children’s needs
- Support children’s play and learning
Optional Units
Plus one unit from:
- Contribute to the effectiveness of teams
- Support the development of babies and children under 3 years
- Support a child with disabilities or special educational needs
- Support children and young people’s play
