A flexible syllabus, enabling training to be tailored to meet specific needs of employers and their employees. It gives participants the opportunity to build and develop more in depth woodwork skills, covering subjects such as safety of machines, setting up & maintaining machines, identifying & preparing materials as well as the construction of joinery & furniture items.
Who Will Benefit:
The qualification is designed for those who are currently working in the woodwork industry, to support & strengthen their understanding and development.
Entry Requirements:
No formal entry requirements, although working within the woodwork trade is essential in order for the participant to build their work-based portfolio.
Course Aims:
This is a short, flexible programme to further develop individual skills and knowledge of the industry whilst gaining hands on experience. This course is designed to be part of a package of training for people employed in a wood machinist role.
Assessment will be by short practical and related knowledge tests for each unit of the course. When a given number of units have been successfully completed, an NVQ is awarded. Each candidate must complete all the mandatory units, plus a given number of option units.

- Produce Timber and Timber-Based Products Using Computer Numerically
- Controlled/Numerically Controlled (CNC/NC) Machinery
- Produce and Maintain Tooling to Meet Requirements
- Maintain and Enhance Customer Satisfaction
