Retail Operations NVQ Level 2

This NVQ provides candidates working within the retail sector the opportunity to gain an industry recognised qualification within their own workplace.

How is my training programme decided?

The assessor will develop a candidate’s knowledge, understanding and skills in relation to the NVQ that is being undertaken.

Assessors will:

  • provide opportunities for learning
  • provide ongoing mentoring to the candidate, including review and feedback on learning experiences and development of competence
  • provide opportunities for a candidate to practice what they have learnt in a realistic, but safe and protected, working environment.

How is this NVQ assessed?

Like all NVQs, this qualification is competence-based. This means that it is linked to a person’s ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work.

Mandatory Units:

Candidates must achieve the following unit:

  • Work effectively in your retail team

Optional Units:Candidates must achieve five of the following units:

Group 1: Stock storage and order processing

  • Receive goods and materials into storage
  • Put goods and materials into storage
  • Keep stock on sale at required levels
  • Process orders for goods
  • Process returned goods and materials
  • Place orders to meet customer demand

 Group 2: Preparing products for sale

  • Prepare products for sale to customers
  • Process bake off products for sale
  • Process fish and shellfish for sale
  • Process greengrocery products for sale
  • Finish meat products by hand
  • Generate images for official documentation
  • Copy and modify photographic images using a digital print station
