skillVM is a series of skills competitions that find the best of the best in visual merchandising in the UK. It is a chance for you to show your skills and creativity to the world…literally. Winners of the UK competition could also compete at EuroSkills and WorldSkills, the largest international skills competition in the world, taking place in London in 2011.
Why enter?
skillVM is a competition for students and those working in VM in the retail industry to demonstrate their visual merchandising creative and technical skills in a live competition environment. Teams are invited to submit mood boards on the theme 'window into your world' before creating mock window displays, which will be judged by a panel of experts. Read the full competition brief HERE.

How to enter
Stage 1: Download and complete the application form HERE and submit to sasha.decaires@skillsmartretail.com by the 6th March 2009.
Stage 2: Submit a 500 word proposal and two A3 Mood boards of your window design by 13th March 2009 to Sasha de Caires, Skillsmart Retail, 93 Newman Street, London W1T 3EZ
Stage 3: The shortlisted teams from each category will be invited to compete head to head at a national/regional heat. Each team will receive a £200 budget to build their scheme at a shopping centre in four hours. The five heats will take place between April and May 2009.
Stage 4: The three highest scoring teams from each category will be invited to build their display at the live UK final held at the In-Store Show, Olympia, London on 30 June and 1 July 2009. Teams will have four hours to build their display.
Guest judges will complete the expert panel to decide who will receive gold for the categories.
