Launch of a new Norfolk County Council initiative to survive credit crunch

Norfolk County Council has launched a new initiative to help people and businesses survive the credit crunch.

The launch of Manage Your Finances - the Norfolk County Council Guide to Beating the Recession on Wednesday, May 6, is the latest in a number of projects aimed at helping residents struggling to make ends meet in the financial crisis.

This handy reference guide follows the launch of the website www.norfolk.gov.uk/managingyourfinances, another new council information package to help those in financial difficulties.

David Collinson, Norfolk County Council's Head of Trading Standards, said: “In response to the recent economic downturn, we wanted to help residents and businesses in Norfolk looking for debt advice and support by gathering all the information together in one place so it was easier for them to access that support as soon as possible.

“The website and leaflet will also be a valuable tool in helping frontline workers support people by helping them to direct enquires to the most appropriate agency or organisation without delay.”

The Manage Your Finances information guide features all the useful information that is available on the website, including listings of organisations at both local, and national, level that provide debt advice as well as details of where people can seek housing support, legal advice and information about credit unions, and how they operate.

Visitors can also download information packs, personal budget sheets and sample letters to use to write to creditors, and access information about the number of debt management workshops run by Norfolk County Council's Adult Education Service.

The Manage Your Finances information guide is available at libraries across Norfolk and at Norfolk County Council Information Centres. Alternatively, telephone Norfolk County Council's Customer Service Centre on 0844 800 8020.
